The Royal Mile Tea Rooms
Brand manager, 2020
Project Overview
Overview
In 2020, I brand managed and oversaw the development of a new café concept, The Royal Mile Tea Rooms, located within The Hub on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Working closely with ownership and design partners, I led the creation of a full visual identity and brand direction, from concept through to completion. Despite the café not opening due to COVID-19, a complete and launch-ready brand package was successfully delivered.
The Brief
The aim was to create a distinctive café brand that complemented The Hub’s historic setting while appealing to both tourists and locals. The project required a new name, logo, and brand identity system, along with menu design and launch materials that balanced heritage charm with a modern café aesthetic.
My Role
Oversaw logo and brand identity development from initial concept to final delivery.
Collaborated with design partners to ensure cohesive visual storytelling aligned with The Hub’s architectural heritage.
Designed and produced café menus and collateral using Adobe InDesign.
Supported brand positioning and tone of voice development to reflect an elevated, approachable hospitality experience.
The Outcome
Although The Royal Mile Tea Rooms did not open due to the pandemic, the full brand package - including logo suite, menus, and launch materials - was completed and approved. The resulting identity captured a refined yet welcoming character that aligned with the venue’s cultural setting and hospitality vision.
